Love 'em or hate 'em, Maryland's new football uniforms certainly command attention. Taking a page from the Oregon Ducks and Nike, the Terrapins' partnership with Under Armour takes it to the next level (up or down, you make the call).
The season has officially started and here's our second loser of the week. Old Spice, no doubt trying to recapture the glory of Shower Man, trips in the backfield with Ray Lewis doing a bunch of odd things for no particular reason.
Lame. Sad. A big waste of money. And further proof that Axe does "wacky" consistently good, while Old Spice is a one-hit wonder.
Sorry, to keep posting about the AllState campaign, but this latest commercial doesn't really cut it. Too convoluted a premise. Not particularly funny, evil, or memorable.
Love the idea of a football tie-in, but they missed an opportunity here.
The season is upon us, and there are already a slew of good ones and bad ones. Kind of like the games themselves...
A good one: this series of spots for ESPN's Monday Night Football. They're funny and give us all a reason to look forward to Monday after the weekend. Like "The most interesting man in the world" commercials, they're even better as a series.

It's two minutes long, and I'm not normally a fan of crazy fast editing, but this football (aka "soccer") spot for Nike rocks the house. Titled "The Next Level," it shows a player getting there--entirely through his POV, which is what makes it so damn unique. Would love to see an American football (aka "football") spot using the exact same concept.
By the time you read this, Super Bowls ads will have been discussed and dissected ad nauseum (pun intended). So let me just opine that, overall, the commercials were better this year.
I am an opinionated guy with 25 years experience as a creative writer for agencies from Honolulu to Savannah. The thoughts expressed here are my own, but as Dennis Miller used to say (back when he was funny) "That's just my opinion. I could be wrong."
